Guess who's getting a dog?!

Me! Well, Nick too. His friend James has a dog named Sadie that is awesome, but they have a few animals, and she could really benefit from being the only pup around. She's a Japanese Chin.. This isn't a picture of her, but this is her breed and coloring:

The breed is generally small, quiet, clean, and affectionate.. but from what I hear, she's even better than the standard. Recently she had puppies, and is still feeding them.. but she also took it upon herself to feed the kittens that also were just born. The mommy cat is missing in action so now she is being a mother to every infant animal in the house. That is one smart dog.

I'm so excited.. I haven't had a dog since Katie, my German Shepard, died in 1991. The thought of walking her, and bringing her outside to play doesn't feel like a chore to me.. I've been waiting for a dog for so long that I have no problem with taking care of her completely.

The word is that she will be ready sometime before Christmas, and I couldn't imagine getting a better present.
